This has been a dream of mine since the very beginning of making guitars. To make a guitar made nearly entirely from recycled or reclaimed materials that has all the same attention to detail but with a lower carbon footprint. I call it the ‘R’ for reclaimed, recycled, reused, reworked etc. You get access to all the same specification changes as with a normal M1 or M2 but with certain things limited due to availability of recycled/reclaimed material.
Due to the varied amount of material I can obtain for body, neck and fingerboard woods, these guitars will named according to where they’ve been sourced from. This first edition of the R will be called ‘Winfrith’, which is where the Honduran Mahogany that makes up the body and neck wood is sourced from. Winfrith was a 1950’s era Nuclear Power Station in Dorset, about 30 miles from where my workshop is. This wood was from the workbenches from the maintenance area of the site.
If sustainability means a lot to you, this is certainly a great option for you. Couple that with the limited nature of it, you’ll have a little bit of history tied up in it.
