Hi, I’m Elliott

I’m Elliott Trent – the designer, builder (or Luthier) at Trent Guitars.

I craft guitars out of my workshop in Poole – a historic port town on the South Coast of England. My key design methodology is ‘tool-like’ simplicity, prioritising play-ability, reliability and feel. I create timeless instruments, focusing on sustainability in both design and construction.

My original ‘Model 1’ design has seen success far beyond the sandy shores where they’re made. They can be seen touring with Hester Chambers (Wet Leg) – appearing at Wembley Stadium and the BRIT Awards – or with Madison Cunningham at MSG in New York City.

It’s equally found a niche among studio owners across the world, becoming a firm favourite with musicians who are looking for something built with attention to detail in all the right places.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of everything at Trent Guitars.

I only use water-based finishes, meaning they’re much thinner than polyurethane and polyester finishes and also are much less harmful to the environment. Like nitro, it marks easily (but without the harmful solvents), so you’ll have an instrument that wears with you.

The guitars are made from sustainably harvested timber, which is often carbon-neutral. Nearly all of the hardware on the guitars is custom-made within a mile of my workshop, that’s the control plate, neck plate, hard tail bridge, bridge saddles and vibrato unit. Not only does this add a refined look to the guitars, but it also reduces the carbon footprint of the final product.

Trent Guitars are technically vegan. I don’t use any animal products on the guitars, the nuts are in TUSQ from Graph Tech and I don’t use any animal-derived glues.

I’m committed to making Trent Guitars as sustainable as possible, so watch this space.
